Arroe wasn't often a sentimental person, but every so often she liked to go back and look at the past, whether it be pictures, or memories, or things she had wrote as a child. Arroe grew under the strict watch of her adoptive grandmother, hardly allowed to step out of line. Though she loved her grandmother, they had their differences and many arguments that usually resulted in screaming and tears. Arroe kept this fights to herself, not wanting to worry her mother with her emotions. As a child, until her early teens, she was often emotional, yet withdrawn, trying to keep everything bottled up until finally she exploded. It took a long time for Arroe to control her emotions, and her temper, but at last she did. She found a way to let it all escape. Darkness. Nothing but Darkness. Black. Blood. Hurt. Death. It all appeased her, it all amused her, it all captivated her. And then a thought struck her: She could follow in her mothers footsteps. She, Arroe, could be a Death Eater.

I looked in the mirror at my posed reflection and studied my copper hair, it was straight down my back today, without much of a wave. I liked it. Next I studied my face, it had little make up on, but i wasn't in the mood to search out my eye liner and coat my gray eyes with it. Today I just wanted to be normal. As normal as was possible anyway, when you're a witch and you're mothers basically "evil" But oh well.
I went over to my bed and snatched up the black tank top that was thrown on it then pulled it on quickly. Next I pulled on black pants with strapes hanging down from them. My favorite paid. After dressing myself completely I tossed my hair over my shoulder and walked out of my room slowly. Mom wasn't home, and granpa Xander was at work, which meant another day with Aarina.
She was on my case, too, considering last nights huge fight which resulted in me losing my temper, as usual, and her landing a not so usual slap on my arm. She never struck my face. And actually, never really struck me, and it didn't hurt either, but the shock of it was enough to piss me off and say a few more "inapropriate things"
With a sigh I trotted down the staircase and into the kitchen where she was washing dishes. "Morning," I said without any emotion, then opened the fridge to grab a drink. "You mean afternoon," Aarina replied in an annoyed tone after looking at the clock. "Stop sleeping in Arroe, you're wasting your mornings." I rolled my eyes at the wall, if she saw me I'd probably get yelled at again. "I'm not wasting them, I'm enjoying them," I replied, then took out a glass of milk and walked out the backdoor and into the hot afternoon.
Summer sucked.

The backyard was brutal, but luckily I only had to be in the sun for a moment. I raced across the hot grass, barefoot, and dove under the shade of my favorite willow tree. It was instantly cooler. I leaned back against its mildly warm trunk and looked around the yard, it was empty and dull. At the edge of Xander and Aarina's property was the thick woods that surrounded the backyard. The trees were so thick she could hardly see anything past the first few trees. With a soft sigh I rested my head back and closed my eyes. Mom wouldn't be home until tomorrow, possibly the day after, and I was starting to miss her. I needed to go to Diagon Alley to start getting school supplies, the list had come not too long ago and mom promised to take me. I knew mom wanted to, but I doubted she would, which meant I would be stuck with Aarina unless I went with Alyra and Onyxa. I hoped it would be the second, rather than shopping with Aarina. I didn't realize I had started to doze off until someone started poking me. "Wake up lazy," said a playful voice. I grumbled in reply, still not fully awake. "Fine I suppose I can go back to the Manor instead of taking you shopping," the voice said again. My eyes immediatley flew open. "Mom!" I shouted and flung my arms around her in an excited hug. "I thought you weren't getting home until tomorrow or the next day!" I exclaimed over her shoulder, grinning ear to ear. "Well I could go back if you wanted me to?" she offered jokingly. I laughed in reply, too happy to say anything. Finally after a moment I pulled back and smied, "so you're not missing any body parts?" I asked, looking her over. She seemed fine other than a small bruise on her cheek. Mom shook her head, "nope, nothing. But you will be if you don't hurry it up, we've got some school books to buy." I grinned and scrambled to my feet, shifting my weight back and forth to wake my sleeping limbs. Damn tingles. Mom smiled at me in return then we walkd back towards the house, her talking lightly about her last mission, which I knew was a lot more interesting than she was letting on. she always spared me details. Once I had thrown on some make up and she had changed her clothes, I took hold of her hand and we apprated into the busy London street. "Before we get any school supplies, I want to get you something first," mom said with a mysterious smile as she led me down the crowded street. I gave her a suspcious glance, "like what?" She winked at me the ordered me to close my eyes. I obeyed reluctantly and she led me to a store. Once we entered she allowed me to open my eyes. We were in the Magical Menagerie. I turned to mom and grinned happily, "a pet?" I asked in excitement. She nodded, "go, pick one out. It's my present for entering your third year." I smiled and hugged her then rushed off to find a pet. Twenty minutes later we walked out. With Orbit.

Second week back. 5th year at Hogwarts.
It was a Saturday night and all my homework was already finshed, I had been lucky not to have too much, so I finished pretty quick. After a quick glance around the Slytherin common room, I realized that my friends, twins Alyra and Onyxa were nowhere to be seen, probably off with their mother, which happens to be the Headmistress. I sighed and got up off the seat I had taken, then walked out, it was almost time for all the students to be inside, but I hardly listened to those rules, and I also hardly got caught. It helps when your mother understands how fun it is to wander around the school grounds at night, and she also remembers doing it when she was my age. She knows I can defend myself, and knows I have common sense, so she covers for me as best she can. Afteer managing to sneak away un-noticed I made my way towards the Forbidden Forest. Forbidden to me was like a giant sign saying, come on it. It was alluring. Captivating. Entrancing. And I was so excited to be out again, this was my first time sneaking out as a fifth year, and I was eager to get out again. Once in the cover of all the trees I shifted into my raccoon form, I hadn't been in it for a few weeks, and it took me a moment to get re-aquainted with my skin. I sniffed the air, glanced around, and took a few cautious steps. Once I was ready, I took off into the thick trees, running as fast as a Raccon could. It must have been nearly half an hour before I ran into another animal, and I was surprised to see it was another raccoon. I mean, of course there are raccoons in the Forbidden Forest, at least, I'm sure there was, but this one was different. It didn't seem like any wild raccoon, the way it was walking and looking back and worth as if watching for someone. When it spotted me it froze in midstep, paw in the air, and chattered a bit. But it didn't run, which was my second clue it wasn't any normal raccoon. Most animals, especially other raccoons, sense I'm not normal animal, and flee as soon as I get to close. And I was only at most ten feet from this creature. I chattered a bit, wondering who or what this thing was. After no reply, I took a step further. The fur on the back of the other raccoon stood up, and it bared it's teeth at me, but it didn't back down. Now I was sure it was no regular raccoon. I narrowed my beady black eyes at it and circled around it once, it still remained motionless. Finally after a few seconds it took a step forward and stared directly into my eyes, I was sure that it too sensed I was no regular raccoon. I leaned in closer until our noses touched, at that it jumpd back in surprise with an angry chatter. I laughed, in my head, and shook my head in amusement. Finally I decided the only way to know for sure if this was another wizard or witch, was to change back into my human form and see for myself if it would do the same. I took several step back then morphed back into my human form, then looked down at the raccoon. I could have sworn that it's eyes were going to popout of its head. It's then I realized I was in a skirt and it could see directly up it. "Fuck you," I said, sticking my tongue out at it. I knew it had to be another student. "Come on, who are you, not like I'm going to turn you in, I'm not an ass hole or an idiot," I said, crossing my arms impatiently. After a few moments it took a step back, then it too morphed back into its human shape. "I'm Amaranth," the boy in front of me said, raising his eyebrows in a sort of greeting. I nodded and smiled, "and I'm Arroe. Fancy meeting you out here," I teased. He cracked a miniscule smile, then crossed his arms to mimic mine. "And what might you be doing stalking me?" he demanded, though he seemed rather amused at out bizzare meeting. I shook my head and turned around, "nothing at all," I replied, then began walking away. There was a moment of silence, followed by him shyly asking me to wait and his footsteps hurrying behind me to catch up. [/center]

I paused, giving him a fraction of a second to wait up, then continued walking. "I didn't know there was another raccoon, espcially another slytherin," I commented as I picked my way along the thick forest floor. He was silent for a moment then replied quietly, "me neither. Kind of ironic I suppose." I nodded in agreement. "You're another sixth year, right?" I asked, he nodded in reply.
I didn't recall ever speaking to him, so figured he must keep to himself. "I don't see you around much, and I don't think I've ever seen you in the common room," I commented lightly, wondering how he spent his time. He shrugged, seeming reluctant to carry on a conversation. Finally he replied in short sentences, "I prefer to stay to myself." A moment later, "I don't like people around me."
I raised my eyesbrows slightly and gazed at him through my bangs, "so, want me to leave you to your alone time then?" I asked. He stopped, seeming surprised at my offer, "no!" he said abruptly, then seemed embarassed by his sudden reply. "I mean, no, you can stay, I don't mind." He seemed flustered now, which only made me laugh. He either didn't have much experience talking to girls, or he liked me. I was sort of hoping it was the later. He was cute, and mysterious like, and another raccoon. Didn't that mean we were like, destined, or something?
"Alright, calm down," I replied, still laughing a little. Slowly I walked nearer to him, until we were inches away as we walked. "How often do you come out here?" I asked curiously, pleased he didn't move away. He shrugged. Wow, he really doesn't know how to communicate, I thought. Finally he replied, "every other night, usually, and you?" I smiled, I was liking the sound of his voice. "Not as often, my friends aren't really aware of it, so I'm usually with them. Plus their mom wouldn't be too happy."
Amaranth seemed confused by that. "Your friends mom? What, did she like, raise you?" he asked, which made me laugh. "No, my friends mom is the headmistess." He stopped, "Aramorta?" he asked, as if there was another headmistress. I nodded and snorted. "Yeah, and my mom is the Transfiguration professor, but she's cool, she doesn't care if I'm out here." Amaranth nodded and continued walking, "so your mom knows you sneak out?" he asked, I nodded in reply, "yeah, like I said, she's okay with it."
We stayed silent the rest of the way out of the forest, lost in our own thoughts that no doubt contained each other. When we reached the clearing Amaranth turned to me and gave me a small smile, "see ya," he said quietly, then before I could reply shifted into his raccoon form and ran off. "Yeah, see ya," I replied after a moment, watching as he dissapeared in the shadows.
